MOMENT places strong emphasis on the privacy and security of data for all system users.

This policy explains why we collect personal data, how we use it, and how we ensure its security.

Our goal is for all users, event organisers, and partners to understand how we process personal data.

Responsibility

Margir steinar ehf. operates the MOMENT ticketing system (moment.is) and is responsible for the data processing described here.

In some cases, however, MOMENT processes personal data on behalf of event organisers who use the system to sell tickets.

In such cases, the event organiser is the data controller, and MOMENT acts as the data processor under a data processing agreement.

Collection and Processing of Personal Data

MOMENT only collects information necessary to provide services and comply with legal obligations.

We process, among other things, the following information:

  • Name, email address, phone number, and address
  • National ID number (where applicable, e.g. for invoicing or refunds)
  • Order and payment information (e.g. ticket numbers and receipts)
  • Technical system data (e.g. IP addresses, browsers, and cookies)
  • Communication with customer support or event organizers

Use of Information

Personal data is used to:

  • ensure delivery of tickets and other products
  • send confirmations and service-related information

If you subscribe to a mailing list or consent to marketing communications, you will only receive such communications while your consent is active. You may unsubscribe at any time.

MOMENT does not share personal data with third parties except in the following cases:

  • With the event organizer responsible for the relevant event
  • With service providers acting on our behalf (e.g. payment processors, hosting providers, or email services)
  • With authorities or courts where required by law

All parties granted access to data on behalf of MOMENT are bound by confidentiality and required to comply with data protection laws.

Data Security

MOMENT ensures that all personal data is stored securely.

We use, among other measures:

  • encrypted connections (HTTPS)
  • secure payment gateways
  • access controls and staff confidentiality obligations
  • regular security testing and audits

Data Retention

Personal data is retained only as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose of processing or comply with legal obligations.

After that period, data is either deleted or anonymised.

Accounting and financial records are retained for up to seven years in accordance with legal requirements.
